Nije ni preskup.

CUE/FX BUS INJECTIONS
With those 100+tracks sessions the industry is unfortunately heading to, even with 48 automated faders as in the 948, engineers are forced to do some ITB mixing on top of whatever is done in the console. Integrating hybrid mixing as a whole is not always easy, for instance FX devices are often segregated.
What when you have a great FX outboard collection (480L, H3000s, M7..) and want to send those fully ITB-treated tracks to the external FXs? The only way to do it is to pipe some dedicated ITB's Master FX Sends and patch them into several of the console's strips so that they can access the desk's FX sends. By that you're wasting a good 8+ channels.

The 948 provides a DB25 on the back labelled "Cue Bus Injects", essentially 8 summing inputs to the cue/fx, that allow Cue/Fx sends from other consoles, for instance, to be added to those busses without using desk channels. Now your ITB and OTB tracks can share the same outboard FX processors without using any ch strip. Signals are added at unity gain, before the AFL and master FXs send output level knobs.

If you think about it, this very same feature allows you to have the same FX send on BOTH the small and large fader (which share FX sends on an "either-or" case, just like on a 4K/9K). Say you have two different Kicks on the (automated) small and large fader, that you want to process differently but use as a single Kick sound, with the same Fx send -perhaps a cool ambience reverb from a L224.
Very simple: Put FX1 on the large fader (which goes to the L224) and FX2 on the small fader. Route FX2 output to some unused mono bus -via the EFX routing scheme on the ch strip-, say bus 8. Now patch bus 8 output into that DB25 FX Inject FX1. Voilà, you get both small and large fader feeding the L224. This you can do in any other ch strip: whatever is sent to bus 8 will feed the L224.
This sort of trick would have required 2-3 chs on a regular 4000, but on the 948 you can do it all with just one ch strip.
