On occasion, I've posted here about some issues with my Emu 1820m. In particular, I ran into cracking that quickly decayed into total distortion with high (not low) latencies. I also ran into a problem with system freeze if I had a Powercore plugin enabled, and I increased the latency setting.

I was able to get things done because I knew how to keep it out of trouble. But, my experience made it difficult to recommend the card to others. My last card with the same setup is an older RME, and I had zero driver issues with that card.

The Emu 1.8 drivers made things better, but not perfect. The just released SX3.1 has a bunch of fixes for audio and midi timing. Whatever the reason, something has changed for the better. All problems gone and all is well, finally.
