Evo ti objasnjenja koje je na ovom forumu pre par godina postovao "puRe":

This is because the Duende bus comp is modelled on an analogue design.

As you probably know digital cannot go above 0db. Therefore a reference level is used where full digital scale (0dbfs) is equal to +18db in the analogue domain. This means 0db in the analogue domain is equal to -18dbfs.

If for example your threshold was set at +10db, this would equate to -8dbfs; 8db below digital full scale.

Hope this makes sense.
