As for the sounds, I think it's all about taste; you might not be happy with them but I listened to about two hundred samples for the theme synth alone! My point is that the song for me is the way it sounds and I wanted this one to sound just the way it sounds. If I changed a single sound, it would be a different song, mate! And, what's more important, it wouldn't be me.
That's my thinking as author, of course, the production is something else, so if a producer or a sound engineer, say you for instance, said the song would sound better with slight alterations and if I liked then, I'd go for it!
Mind you, it's the plenty of resources we're talking about. As a band in the 80s, I'd probably sound different cause I would've only had 2, maybe 3 real synths available to play, but now just the number of virtual synths I have inevitably makes the songs sound more versatile and unexpectedly different.
I know what you mean, mate, but why not use everything you have at hand?

Still, I'd be interested to hear what sounds you would go for!

I'll be staying in UK for about a month, so I can bring my stuff and we can doodle with them, if you're interested!
