"The original idea for Twenty Systems was to set these machines running and hear what they could do with no personal input at all. But none of these machines are capable of working on their own : a certain amount of input has been necessary to create something musical with them.

In the future the inevitable march of technology will see the need for human input in music gradually diminish. Then the challenge for the artist will not be how to distinguish man from the other animals, but how to distinguish the human being from the robot."
