Default David Gilmour's equipment

Ajde da krenem sa pisanjem na ovom, za mene, vrlo dobrom forumu.Ukoliko Vam se ovo dopada od mene ce sigurno stizati jos dosta toga.
GUITARS & AMPS
  • FENDER STRATOCASTERS
  • Black Strat
  • Used through the 1970's and early 80's now being used again on Gilmour's 2006 solo album & tour.
    • It's an 1970 or early '71 alder body with 4 bolt neck joint.
    • The original white pickguard was replaced with a black one.
    • The neck has been changed a few times, originally with a 1966 rosewood fingerboard and latterly with a '57 reissue maple version.
    • The pickups are now stock late 60s early 70s Fender single coils a DiMarzio Fs-1 was used in the bridge position at one time.
    • Trem arm has been shortened
  • Red Strat
  • USA 57 vintage reissue (right) which has been modified by -
    • Shortening the trem arm
    • replacing stock pickups with EMG-SAs
    • replacing the two tone controls with -
    • EMG-SPC Presence Control - which boosts the mid range effectively converting single coil sound to that of a humbucker.
    • EMG--EXG Guitar Expander - which reduces the mids while boosting bass and treble
    • The EMGs are used because of their internal preamp which reduces the signal loss from the extensive path of Daves setup
  • No. 0001 Stratocaster (right)
  • Dave famously owns the the 0001 serial number Fender Strat. Though dates on the neck and body show it was made after production started and so is not the first Strat produced. It has custom paint job and gold hardware
  • FENDER TELECASTERS
  • 2 x 52 reissues on of which has the bass E string detuned to D (used on Run Like Hell)
  • ACOUSTICS
  • Gibson J-200 - with EMG pickup and Crown microphone
  • Gibson Chet Atkins
  • Takamine
  • Martin D35
  • PEDAL STEELS
  • Jedsens - fitted with EMG-H pickup
  • BILL LEWIS (right)
  • used on Dark Side Of The Moon album when a 21 fret Strat wasn't enough (Money)

Evo sta on koristi, Rick Wright:
Instrument and Equipment Information

Thank you to Mr. Mike Kiker for the following list of equipment, and to Jeremy S. for revisions:

Farfisa Combo Compact Organ (1964-1967) Early Days
Farfisa Combo Compact Duo Organ (1967-1975) During later 60's and early 70's
Hammond M-100 Organ (1967-1973) Piper to Dark Side Of The Moon
Hammond C-3 Organ (1973-1994) Latter Days
Arp String Synthesizer (1977) Used on Dogs and Sheep.
ARP Quadra (1979?) Used on The Wall.
Mellotron M400 (1970-1972) Used on Atom Heart Mother Suite.
Yamaha C-7 Acoustic Grand Piano (1967-1977)
Yamaha CP-70 Electro-acoustic Grand Piano (1979-1981) Was in his keyboard setup, but was mainly used on The Wall tour by Peter Woods.
Rhodes Stage Piano Mark 1 (1971-1981)
Harmonium (1970-1972) Used it only on Syd Barrett solo albums and one or two Floyd songs on Meddle and Obscured By Clouds.
Farfisa Accordian (1979-1981) Only used on Outside The Wall.
Kurzweil K2000VP (1994)
Kurzweil Midiboard (1987-1994)
EMS VCS3 Synthesizer Module (1973-1977) Used for sound effects and synthesizer progamming.

From Wrightkeys, another list with information:

ORGANS

FARFISA ORGAN (1966 - 1972) - A two manual organ console. In comparison to the more popular Hammond, the Farfisa produces a more classical or psychedelic sound. This was Wright's main keyboard in the early years of the Floyd. It plays an important role in the early Floyd sound. Wright included the "Binson Echorec" (an echo device) as part of his combo.

HAMMOND ORGAN & LESLIE SPEAKERS - A two manual console (B3,C3,RT3) or spinet(M102). The Leslie Speaker is a speaker with rotary components which gives the organ sound a swirling effect (tremolo). Wright used several different kinds of Hammonds & Leslies. The Model M-102 (1969-1972) featured in "Live at Pompeii" during "A Saucerful Of Secrets". The Model RT-3 (1972-1973) also featured in "Live At Pompeii" during the "Dark Side Of The Moon" recording sessions. The Model B-3 and its twin sister the C-3 (1973-present) are the most popular of all the Hammonds. Wright's most commonly-used Leslie is Model 122. Wright uses the Hammond mainly as an accompaniment; very rarely does he use it as a lead instrument except in live shows. THE HAMMOND ORGAN IS PLAYED IN ALMOST EVERY FLOYD SONG AFTER 1970. HE STILL USES IT TO THIS DAY.

MELLOTRON (1968-1970) - An early sampler. A very weak instrument in that it always needed tuning and is easily breakable. Wright attempted to recreate orchestras and strange instruments. The instrument is featured mainly on Ummagumma.

ACOUSTIC PIANOS

Other than the Hammond Organ, the acoustic piano has always been an element of the Floyd's keyboard section. However, every album contains a different make of piano. "The Great Gig In Sky" as well of the rest of The Dark Side of the Moon was recorded with a classical Steinway & Sons Baby Grand Piano, featured in "Live At Pompeii". Wright seem to be a fan of Yamaha as well.

WURLITZER ELECTRIC PIANO (1972 - 1975) - Also known as "The Wurly". Wright used model EP-200 series (Colour White). Some say that this was Wright's guitar because of the staccato notes it produces. The Wurly was used mainly for a counter rhythm against Gilmour's guitar. If you have an ear for music, listen to the right channel on songs like "Time", "Have A Cigar", the jazzy solo in "Shine On Pt. 8". Wright adds a wah-wah pedal for the sax and guitar solo in "Money".

FENDER RHODES ELECTRIC PIANO (1977 - 1981) - Also known as "The Rhodes". The intro-solo to "Sheep" need I say more. The Rhodes produces more of a jazz/funk sound and is used mainly for lead solo work. Opposed to the Rhythmic Wurly. Wright uses a "MARK II SUITCASE RHODES" for the studio and live shows, composed with two Fender twin reverb amps.

HOHNER CLAVINET D6 (1975 - 1977) - The instrument of funk. A bassy type keyboard noted for its quick attack and staccato decay. Listen to "Shine On You Crazy Diamond Pt. 8" during the Wurly solo, Wright plays the funky clav riff accompanied by EMS synths. The Clavinet is also featured on seperate WYWH tracks and a few Animals tracks. (Note by FloydWaters: I also believe this instrument appears on "Funky Deux", a track on Mr. Wright's first solo album, Wet Dream.)

KURZWEIL - (1987 - present) - Wrightkeys has yet to figure out what model, but it basically carries Rhodes, Wurly and acoustic piano sound samples. FloydWaters note: I am informed by Adam B. that it is a Kurzweil MidiBoard.

ANALOG SYNTHESIZERS

NOTE: Most of these 1970's anolog synths are monophonic (capable one sound only). Wright and the rest of the band recreated the recorded sounds from multi-tracking and overdubbing synth after synth. This process could and did take them hours to do.

(ELECTRONIC MUSIC STUDIOS) VOLTAGE CONTROLLED STUDIO MODEL 3 (EMS VCS3) (1971)- The bands first synthesizer used in the Meddle sessions...the VCS3 has a wide range of creativity.

VOLTAGE CONTROLLED STUDIO MODEL 3 SYNTHESIZER (A) KEYBOARD SEQUENCER (EMS) VCS3 SYNTHI - AKS (1972 - present)- A later "suitcase" version of the VCS3 with attaching sequencer and keyboard. Used to create "On The Run", "Welcome To The Machine" and "Shine On Pt. 1", etc. The Floyd carried the Synthi in their '94 World Tour.

MINIMOOG (1973 - 1981) - Basically it's the "trumpet" sound in "Shine On You Crazy Diamond". Known as the world's most popular analog syntheziser. Wright used the MiniMoog for many years mainly as a lead instrument. (FloydWaters note: I can't be sure, but it sounds as if this instrument appears after 1981...it sounds like this is the "trumpet" sound in "Wearing the Inside Out". Also, according to Terrence, this was also used on the DSotM tour.)

A.R.P. (SOLINA IV) SYNTHESIZER (1975 - 1977)-Even though the ARP (Alan R. Pearlman Inc.) was a popular synthesizer, especially in America, the only other A.R.P. synthesizer that Wright used was on the song "Absolutly Curtains" on "Obscured By Clouds". The "Solina V" synthesizer was known as "The Floyd's String Machine" capable of recreating a string orchestra, as you can hear on Wish You Were Here and Animals.

SCI PROHPET V SYNTHESIZER (1979 - 1981) - Wright's first polyphonic synthesizer. The synthesizer for The Wall sessions and live shows. Can play multi-sounds and effects with echoes and repeats.

OBERHEIM SYNTHESIZER (1978) - According to the credits, Mr. Wright used one of these on his first solo album Wet Dream. No further information on where else he used it or what specific model.

DIGITAL SYNTHESIZERS

FAIRLIGHT CMI - (1984) - Used by both Dave Harris and Richard Wright on their collaborative effort Identity. Given the year, I believe the model they used would have most likely been a II or IIx, but I cannot prove this. For more information on the Fairlight CMI, please click here.

KURZWEIL - (1987 - present) - Both Wright and Jon Carin split a number of different samplers, rack modules and keyboards made by Kurzweil. FloydWaters note: Judging from photos including a magazine advertisement by Kurzweil, I am certain that the model used on PULSE was a K2000.

ROLAND SUPER JX DIGITAL SYNTHESISER: I am informed by Adam B. that on the Delicate Sound of Thunder tour, Mr. Wright used a Roland synthesiser, that was replaced with the Kurzweil for PULSE. Confirmed by Jeremy S., who provided the model number.

NON-KEYBOARD INSTRUMENTS

VIBRAPHONE - I believe he plays this instrument on some versions of "Love Scene Version 4".

TROMBONE - He is seen to play the trombone in Pink Floyd's earlier days, such as "Biding My Time" and an alternate version of "Jugband Blues".

GUITAR - In a very early version of Pink Floyd (before it acquired that name), Richard Wright was the rhythm guitarist. Judging from a few more recent photos and videos, he apparently still has at least one acoustic guitar (type unknown) and knows how to play, even if he never does so in public.

DOG: No, this is not a typo! If you watch the video Live at Pompeii, you'll see that it was Mr. Wright's job to make sure Mademoiselle Nobs howled into the microphone during this whimsical alternate version of "Seamus".
