"Though the Boss SE-50 was originally introduced as a guitar multi-effects processor, it has gained a large userbase among a variety of harsh EBM bands who use it's pitch shifter effect to process vocals both live and in the studio. The 4-band pitch shifter (patch 112) on the SE-50 has come to define the detuned vocals of a number of electro-industrial acts. Common settings include pitching the top two bands up one to two semitones while detuning the bottom bands by a similar amount."
