Test je preuzet od jednog kolege iz Irske......(hvala:) )

Evo kako je test radjen :
I finally got my hands on a rosetta 800 so I thought I'd do an A/B test with the Fireface.
Before I explain exactly what I did I thought I just mention 1 or 2 things. As soon as I got the rosetta up and running and had a listen to some of my old mixes I heard the diffence staight away. The apogee was so much clearer, tighter bottom and cystal clear highs. Also, VST's now seem much more alive, the small movements on EQ are heard and even with reverb set to 5% wet I could still hear it. So I think it is fair to say that the DA in the rosetta is much better then the fireface.
What this test will hopefully expose is the difference in AD conversions. My thoughts being, if the AD in the RME is as good as the apogee then I would get a benchmac DAC 1 for monitoring and save myself some money.
Here's what I did.
I made up a cable,
--1 metre of Van Damme pro cable--25pin D Sub (input for the apogee)
XLR female
--1 metre of Van Damme pro cable--1/4 balances jack(input for the RME)
The XLR was terminated with the 2 cable coming from it so exactly the same signal was going to both units.
I did the same with another 3 cables so I could use more than one pre amp at a time.
The RME was conected via firewire and the apogee via ADAT (on the RME). I set the RME to sync with the rosetta so the rosetta clock was the master.
I set up cubase's inputs like this:
Channel 1 - Focusrite ISA 430 via the Rosetta
Channel 2 - Focusrite ISA 430 via the Fireface
Channel 3 - Raindirk RM4(1) via the Rosetta
Channel 4 - Raindirk RM4(1) via the Fireface
Channel 5 - Raindirk RM4(2) via the Rosetta
Channel 6 - Raindirk RM4(2) via the Fireface.
Everything I recorded I did in the same way. Armed 2 channels, same preamp and mic but one channel was through the Fireface and the other through the Rosetta.
No EQ or Compression was used at the tracking stage either.
I recorded-
Acoustic with a se gemini into the ISA 430
Bass DI into the ISA 430
Electric guitar(PRS custom 22) into a marshall with a sm57 on the cab into a raindirk(1)
Tambourine with the se gemini into the ISA
Vocals with the se gemini into the ISA
Kick with a shure beta 52a into the raindirk(2)
Snare with a shure sm57 into the raindirk (1)
Overhead with the se gemini into the ISA
I only used 3 mics on the kit as I it would have been a pain to set this test use with 8 pre's.
I then use SSL waves channel strip as my compressor (mostly using the presets for each instrument) and added a touch of reverb to the vocals. I used exactly the same settings on each mix. By the way, I did the mix in around 15 minutes so......
I won't say which is which yet, have a listen to both and let me know which ye prefer.
If ye like I might put up the raw unprocessed audio too but I haven't time now. Guinness is calling!!!
